Pan, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was named a person of interest in Jiang's murder less than a week after the shooting.

In late February, police issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of murder and larceny. Authorities offered a $10,000 reward for Pan's capture and obtained a "red notice" warrant through Interpol, calling on member countries to arrest him if he fled the United States.
