MALDEN, MA -- Girl Scouts and city officials planted a tree last week at the Ferryway School in their ongoing mission to perform community service.
Mayor Gary Christenson, Ward 1 City Councillor Peg Crowe, and DPW Director Bob Knox joined Malden Girl Scout Troop 78130 leader Kerry Collins, the girl scouts and parents. Throughout the year the Malden Girl Scouts say they look for opportunities to work on projects in the city to further their mission of “making the world a better place.” Last summer they spent a weekend cleaning Green Street Park. This past Thanksgiving they organized bags of groceries and goods provided by donations to hand out to families in need. The Troop said they plan to take care of their newly planted tree and watch over it as it grows.
