Malden-Medford Thanksgiving Game Hits 130 Years Old
America's second-oldest continuous high school football rivalry has seen better times, but don't tell these kids. This is their Super Bowl.

MALDEN, MA — The Thanksgiving Day game is one of the great things about high school football, especially in Malden and Medford. The rivalry has seen some lean years - hey, you'd have some hiccups to if you started in 1889 - but for one day, these kids may as well be playing in the Super Bowl.
It's actually pretty impressive how close Medford is to Malden in the all-time Thanksgiving Day rivalry. The former Greater Boston League residents have played 129 times, with Malden holding a 64-55-10 edge.

Medford will try to get a bit closer to .500 this Thursday at Hormel Stadium when the Mustangs host the Golden Tornadoes at 10 a.m. in the 130th chapter of the rivalry, which is famously the second-oldest continuous high school football rivalry in America.
And the best news is someone has to score Thursday. Medford is coming off a shutout, while Malden hasn't scored since Oct. 6. Medford is 1-9, while Malden is staring down the barrel of an 0-11 season.
