Malden Outdoor Movie Night Postponed Amid COVID-19 Concerns

Organizers of the Aug. 1 event at Trafton Park said daily infection rates remain too high in the area.

MALDEN, MA — The outdoor movie night scheduled for this Saturday at Trafton Park has been postponed due to concerns over COVID-19 infection rates. Organizers agreed to postpone the event after consulting with local health officials, who said daily infection rates remain too high in the area.

Joseph Gray, one of the organizers, said Sept. 4 or 5 is being considered as the new date. Renovations at Trafton are expected to begin soon, so the event will be held at another outdoor venue.

The original plan was to screen "The Sandlot" on the baseball field Aug. 1. Gray said organizers are coordinating with the Board of Health and mayor's office to monitor the daily infection rates.
