Malden Playgrounds, Athletic Fields Reopening Friday

The city has implemented new health and safety guidelines as parks, playgrounds and athletic fields return.

MALDEN, MA — Parks, playgrounds and athletic fields in Malden will reopen for general recreation and limited organized sport activities Friday. Officials continue to discourage activities that require groups to gather and make social distancing difficult to maintain.

All visitors over the age of 2 must wear a face covering or mask when they cannot maintain six feet of distance between themselves and others. After using playground equipment, people should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.

Outdoor athletic fields will be open but contact sports and activities must be limited to no-contact drills and training exercises. Games are permitted for no-contact sports where ordinary play allows for social distancing, such as tennis and other racquet sports. When playing, users should avoid touching someone else's equipment.
