Malden Receives Nearly $400K In Complete Streets Funding

MALDEN, MA — Malden was one of two dozen cities and towns to receive funding from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in the latest round of the Complete Streets Funding Program. Ward 1 Councilor and former member of the Complete Streets Task Force Peg Crowe represented the city and accepted the certificate for $398,066.

The Complete Streets Funding Program supports projects that will improve safety and provide accessible options for all modes of travel, including walking, biking, transit and vehicles.

Established by the Baker-Polito Administration in February 2016, the Program affords municipalities the opportunity to design and build infrastructure projects benefitting pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users while taking into account the ages and abilities of all individuals. The Complete Streets Funding Program has awarded 148 construction grants totaling $46 million since creating the funding program in February 2016. For Round 8, MassDOT is awarding 24 municipalities with grants totaling $8.1 million.
