Malden’s Fairy House Festival Promises Enchantment This Saturday

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day at Pine Banks Park.

MALDEN, MA — Kids of all ages are invited to Pine Banks Park this Saturday, August 27 to experience Malden’s Fair House Festival. The event takes place from 12 to 4 p.m.

Activities includes a pre-built fairy house walk, a pre-built fairy house contest and opportunities to build your own fairy house. There will also be a arts and crafts table, face painting and raffles.

Look for a story hour with Dora St. Martin, director of the Malden Public Library and a performance of the “Rainbow Fairies” and “Live Story Hive” by Earthworm Pie Puppet Company.

Those in attendance will also have an opportunity to meet Miss Junior Hampton Beach Emma Smith-Benzan.

For the uninitiated, a fairy house is a “structure for fairies and nature’s other friends (hobbits, elves, gnomes, trolls) to visit,” according to the City of Malden’s press release.

The event is sponsored by Councillor Barbara Murphy, the Malden Cultural Council and the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation.
