Malden Seeking Adults to Become 'Graduation Gurus' to Kids
Malden's Promise is seeking adults to participate in their "Graduation Guru" program.

Malden’s Promise is seeking adults to participate in their "Graduation Guru" program.
"This is an innovative mentoring program that pairs caring adults with Malden High School students to provide guidance, support, and to impart knowledge about the importance of high school graduation and how to be successful in life," reads a city press statement.
Malden’s Promise, a city, school and community coalition established to promote positive outcomes for youth in Malden and surrounding communities, develops programs that focus on youth development and dropout prevention, according to the statement. The coalition's focus is to create a community of adult advocates and community awareness around youth mental health and substance abuse issues, as well as develop a roadmap of youth-focused resources, the statement adds.
A Graduation Guru training session is slated for 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at City Hall in the City Council Chamber.
"At this event, Malden’s Promise will also be sharing the new Malden Community Resource Mobile Application," reads the statement. "The 'app' developed by two Malden High School seniors provides detailed information regarding a wide array of services and supports in and around Malden."
The city is requiring Graduation Guru candidates to be CORI approved before taking part in the program.
