Malden Welcomes First Diversity Officer

Bybiose Larochelle will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion both inside city government and across Malden.

MALDEN, MA — Malden's first diversity, equity and inclusion officer joined the city administration this week.

Mayor Gary Christenson welcomed Bybiose Larochelle, who will focus on inclusion both inside city government and across Malden. Larochelle has a bachelor's degree in crime and justice studies/psychology from UMass Dartmouth, where she minored in Black studies.

Larochelle also has a graduate degree in crime and justice studies. She is passionate about social services and believes in the key practices of "customer service, holistic service, strength-based relationships and results orientation," according to a statement from the city.

"We are thrilled to welcome Bybiose to our office," Christenson said in a statement. "She will play a critical role in increasing the focus on diversity, equity and inclusion both inside our organization and across the city."
