Malden Woman Embezzled Nearly $800K From Law Firm: Feds

Kayla Figelski, 32, admitted to stealing hundreds of thousands from accounts the firm kept for its elderly clients, authorities said.

MALDEN, MA — A Malden woman pleaded guilty to eight federal charges in connection with an embezzlement scheme that resulted in nearly $800,000 in losses for her employer, a local law firm, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Kayla Figelski, 32, admitted to stealing at least $796,747 from the firm by forging checks to herself from her employer's checking accounts, including conservatorship, trust and estate administration accounts her employer maintained for its elderly clients and estates, authorities said.

Figelski directly cashed the checks or deposited them into her own account and withdrew the funds, the USAO said.
