A man allegedly involved in hit-and-run accidents in Malden and Everett was arrested on drunk driving-related charges Thursday in Everett, according to police.

A man allegedly involved in hit-and-run accidents in Malden and Everett was arrested on drunk driving-related charges Thursday in Everett, according to police.
Everett Police arrested Lawrence W. Bellio, 56, of Everett, charging him with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and alcohol, operating to endanger, leaving the scene after causing property damage and using a vehicle without authority.Â
Bellio is expected to be arraigned Friday in Malden District Court.
Accident in Malden
A woman was injured in an hit-and-run accident on Ferry Street near the Malden-Everett line Thursday morning, according to police.Â
Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews responded to the "400 block" of Ferry Street for a report of an hit-and-run accident, according to Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis. The victim, who was taken to a local hospital, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Molis.Â
The suspect was reportedly driving a brown or tan-colored pickup truck from Malden into Everett, according to Molis.
"A vehicle struck a pole, a hydrant and a person," Molis said. "The (suspect) left the area and was subsequently located and taken into custody" by Everett Police, he added.
Arrest in Everett
A short time later, an Everett Police officer reported an erratic driver on Ferry Street, according to a press statement. The officer claims that the suspect, later identified as Bellio, was driving a pickup truck when he allegedly struck a light pole and continued driving, the statement adds.
Another officer spotted the truck, which sustained heavy front-end damage, stopped in a driveway on Bradford Street in Everett, according to the statement.
"(An officer)Â found the operator and his dog sitting in the pickup which was emitting heavy smoke from the front end," reads the statement. "The driver and dog were removed from the vehicle and the (Everett) Fire Department was notified to extinguish the fire."
According to Twitter reports, the woman was standing on the sidewalk at a bus stop prior to being struck. Molis declined to comment on where the woman was prior to the accident, as the incident remains under investigation by police.
