Man Faces Gun Charge After Foot Chase In Malden

The man threw a handgun into the window of a Medford Street home while being chased by officers Tuesday, police said.

MALDEN, MA — A Lynn man was arrested on weapons charges following a foot chase in Malden Tuesday, police said.

The 22-year-old man, who has roots in Malden, is known to law enforcement and had a warrant out for his arrest, police said. He fled officers on foot after being confronted on Medford Street, police said.

During the chase, he pulled a loaded semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and threw it, police said. The gun struck the window of a home.

The man was arrested on a criminal warrant, as well as additional charges relating to firearm and property crime. Police did not identify him by name.

Medford Street was blocked off for a period of time Tuesday while the scene was secured.
