Markey Wins Decisively Among Malden Democrats, Gomez Takes Slight Lead

Malden's congressman took more than twice the votes of Rep. Stephen Lynch, securing more than 71 percent of the vote on his home turf.

5,644 Malden voters turned out for Tuesday night's primary vote to replace Fmr. Sen. John Kerry's vacant Senate seat. . 

For the Democrats, Malden Rep. Edward Markey secured a large win over Rep. Stephen Lynch, with 3,525 to 1,392 votes. 

On the Republican ballot, private equity investor Gabriel Gomez secured a less decisive lead over Fmr. US Attorney Michael Sullivan and State Rep. Daniel Winslow.
