Monday Essentials: Dedication Ceremony for Fallen Malden Officer Set for Monday

Here are five things to know for Sept. 16-22 in Malden:
1. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Malden Police Officer Edward C. Callahan’s sacrifice, there will be a dedication ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at the delta across from 347 Pleasant St. where the former A&P Super Market was located.Â
2. The Malden Farmers Market is slated for 3-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 at City Hall Plaza, 200 Pleasant St., according to the Malden Chamber of Commerce website.
3. The Malden Problem Properties meeting is scheduled for 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the Mayor's Office Conference Room on the sixth floor of Malden Government Center.
4. Malden Public Library will introduce a new program that runs from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Thursdays, as Mayor Gary Christenson will read to children in the Children's Room.
5. The Malden High School football team will take on Revere at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Della Russo Stadium in Revere, according to the Max Preps website.
