Monday Essentials: Malden's Inaugural Latin Festival is Friday

Here are five things happening in Malden from Sept. 9-15:
1. Malden's first Latin Festival is set for 6-10 p.m. Friday at Malden Government Center, according to an event posting on Malden Patch.
2. There will be a Malden Girl Scout sign-up session from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Oak Grove Community Building, according to an event posting on Malden Patch.
3. The ninth annual Harvest Moon Festival is slated for 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Fellsmere Pond, according to an event posting on Malden Patch.
4. The Malden City Council committees meet on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Malden Government Center, including:
- Ordinance Committee, 5:30 p.m., Council Chamber
- Finance Committee, 6:15 p.m., Council Chamber
- Committee of the Whole, 7 p.m., Council Chamber
- License Committee, 7:05 p.m., Council Chamber
5. The mayor's annual Senior Cookout is set for 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at Anthony's, 105 Canal St.
