Mystic Brewery Is Shutting Down

The Chelsea-based brewery, which briefly considered a move to Malden, is closing after eight years.

CHELSEA, MA — A greater Boston brewery is shutting down after eight years. Mystic Brewery has "decided to discontinue brewing operations and intends to wind things down over the next few weeks," founder Bryan Greenhagen wrote on the brewery's Facebook page.

The business was founded in 2011 and opened a taproom on Williams Street in Chelsea a few years later. A move to a larger space on Charles Street in Malden was briefly considered last year, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

As Mystic Brewery nears its closure, it will release some final batches and special beers and sell off its beer archive and barrels, according to the Facebook post. Greenhagen promises the "impact of Mystic will remain long after the doors are closed."
