No Malden High Threat, Police Say
Police in Malden and Methuen told the community a threat telling "MHS" students to stay home from school was directed to a Virginia school.

MALDEN, MA — A social media post with a picture of several guns warning "MHS" students not to go to school Monday is referencing a Virginia high school, not a Massachusetts one, authorities said.
Malden Police retweeted a tweet by Albermarle County Police in Virginia saying authorities there were looking into the threat made against Monticello High. Malden Police then clarified there is no connection to Malden.
Methuen Police also chimed in to assure the community the threat wasn't connected to Methuen High.

The threatening post apparently caught the attention of several students, who started to circulate it. Police and school officials then became aware.
"We are extremely happy and proud that the students notified their parents of this post, who then immediately notified the Methuen Police," Methuen Police Joseph Chief Solomon said. "We always take situations like this very seriously and our detectives worked quickly to determine that the threat did not have anything to do with our schools."
