Obituary: Chester C. Hollis, Worked For Sears and Roebuck For 45 Years
Retired as manager of the Boston mail order division.

Chester C. Hollis, of Tewksbury, formerly of Malden, passed away on Wednesday, August 19th, in Lowell. Chester was born and raised in Chelsea, MA, graduating from Chelsea High School with the Class of 1940.
After high school, he began working at Sears and Roebuck as a shipping clerk, but soon left that job to enlist in the US Navy to help our countries fight in WWII. He was discharged in 1945, and returned to his job at Sears. In 1947, he reenlisted with the start of the Korean War, and served 4 more years with the Navy before being honorably discharged again in 1951. He returned to Sears and Roebuck again, and eventually retired as the Manager of the Boston mail order division after 45 years with the company.

Soon after returning from Korea, Chester and his wife Leila moved to Malden. They shared their home there until her passing in 1994. Chester had also attended Northeastern University where he received his Associates Degree. He was a member of the Polish American Veterans of Chelsea, and enjoyed golfing. He also treasured spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, James H. Hollis Sr. and wife Laraine of Tewksbury, and Joseph Hollis of Danvers, his grandchildren, James H. Hollis Jr of Andover, Kristen Lumia of Tewksbury, Christopher Hollis of Salisbury, and Jolene Fraser of Salisbury, and his great grandchildren, Molly, Bret, Lila, Allie, Ryan, Anthony, and Gavin

He was preceded in death by his wife Leila M. (Rainey) Hollis, and his siblings, Mary Chwaliszewski, Josephine Grabowski, Genevieve Salados, John S. Chwaliszewski, Steven V. Chwaliszewski, and Rev. Roman Chwaliszewski OFM CONV.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Monday, Aug 24th, at 9AM Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church 770 Salem St, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
