Obituary for Former Malden Resident Elsie Bowers

Elsie Bowers, 97, formerly of Malden, died on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Wingate of Andover.

Elsie Bowers, 97, formerly of Malden, died on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Wingate of Andover, according to an obituary posted on the Mahoney Funeral Homes website.

Bowers, born on Sept. 29, 1916, was raised and educated in the Bowersville, Georgia area. During World War II, she relocated to Washington, D.C. where she met her husband Arthur. The two would get married in 1942, and in 1945 following his discharge from the service would move to Malden to raise their family.

In Malden, Bowers worked at E.V. Yeuell sheet metal company.

She also lived in Chelmsford, Andover and spent winters at Pompano Beach in Florida.

Calling hours are from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith St., Lowell. 

On Thursday, Bowers' funeral procession will take place at 10 a.m. to Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St., Everett, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the cemetery chapel.
