Police are "at a standstill" in their investigation into an alleged robbery Monday in Malden, according to Det. Lt. Marc Gatcomb.
Around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 4, the victim "called 911 in a fury," according to Gatcomb. Police haven't been able to determine where the alleged robbery occurred due to conflicting statements by the victim.
"The victim said he had gotten robbed, but when the officers got there and tried to interview him and calm him down his tone turned and became more adversarial toward the officers than a normal cooperating victim would be," he said. "From there they were really unable to get any information to investigate the alleged act that he was talking about.
"...From what the patrol officers got from their initial investigation and what they attempted to find out, they can't confirm or deny anything that he tried to allege."

The victim of an alleged robbery Monday in Malden is providing "conflicting and confusing" reports as to where the incident took place, according to Police Chief Kevin Molis.
The alleged robbery occurred around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 4, but the location of the incident is currently unclear, according to Molis.
"The victim in this case refused to identify himself at the scene and apparently has provided some confusing accounts of the event...providing different locations where it allegedly happened," Molis said. "Based on that assessment, there's really not a lot to go on or even to conclude that we're looking at an actual incident. It's very hard to determine right now what, if anything, did occur."
The police chief made it clear that "in no way do I make it a habit to discredit victims...we encourage victims to report a crime...but the alleged victim provided a confusing and often times uncooperative account of this alleged incident."
Initially, the victim, a male, claimed that the alleged robber was seeking pills from him, according to Molis.
"According to the street sergeant, (the victim) was providing conflicting and confusing accounts of where it actually happened," Molis said. "...He refused to cooperate in any investigation (officers) were trying to carry out."
Police may seek out any public or private camera systems that could possibly verify that such an incident happened if an approximate location is provided by the victim, according to Molis.Â
