Breno Giacomini Holds Annual Football Camp at Malden's Macdonald Stadium
MALDEN, MA - Malden native and NFL Super Bowl Champion Breno Giacomini held yet another successful American Football Without Barriers Camp (AFWB) at Macdonald Stadium last weekend. Mayor Gary Christenson joined Recreation Coordinator Joe Levine for the free camp that was open to youth ages 12 to 18 who were put through a variety of challenging drills in an effort to improve their skills, a release said.
Giacomini and his good friend Gary Barnidge of the Cleveland Browns founded AFWB, a football-related charity foundation in 2011, a release said. The foundation’s goal is to spread the game of football to underprivileged areas around the world by hosting yearly camps that support football clubs in other countries, as well as spending time to help out American local charities, a release said. Giacomini’s strong connection to his hometown along with his passion to give back to his community led him to offering the program to Malden several years ago, a release said. The annual event takes place in July at Macdonald Stadium.
