Pickleball Program Comes to Malden in January 2014
The Malden Recreation Department recently announced the addition of Pickleball to its winter programs beginning in January 2014, according to a city press statement.

Joe Levine, coordinator of the Recreation Department, was approached by local ambassador of the USA Pickleball Association, Peter Sullivan, to introduce the sport to the community, according to the statement. Pickleball is currently played by more than 100,000 players across the nation, the statement adds.
Pickleball is a hybrid between tennis and ping pong, without the speed, reads the statement. Starting Dec. 2, information about the pickleball program will be available on the Malden Recreation Department website.Â
