Revere Showcase Cinema Closing After 50+ Years
The company that owns Showcase Cinema is selling the property, which may be turned into an Amazon facility.
REVERE, MA — Showcase Cinema de Lux Revere will close after more than 50 years, as the property is in the final stages of being sold. National Amusements, which owns Showcase Cinemas, confirmed it has signed an agreement to sell the site to Massachusetts-based developer Northbridge Partners.
"Showcase Cinemas is deeply committed to our Massachusetts and US theatrical exhibition business," a spokesperson for the company wrote in an email to Patch. "We have been a business leader in the Revere community for more than a half century."
Showcase Cinemas is opening a new theater at Hanover Crossing in 2021 and will continue to look at potential sites for future locations, including in the Revere area.

Boston's Wicked North Shore reported that Northbridge plans to tear down the theater and build an Amazon distribution facility. It would be the online retail giant's second location in Revere.
