South Broadway Park To Be Renamed After Former Malden Mayor
The park and baseball field are slated to be rechristened to honor two significant Malden residents.
Soon, the South Broadway Park and Baseball Field will be no more.
Instead, you’ll have to get used to referring to the areas as the Richard C. Howard Park and the Robert “Bob” Rotondi Baseball Field, respectively, according to a statement issued by the Mayor’s Office on Tuesday.
Howard - who still serves as town manager in Winchester - oversaw an organization-wide rebuild of Malden Public Schools, in addition to construction of a new senior center during his time in office. He also made parks a priority for upkeep during his tenure from 1996 to 2012.

For his part, Robert “Bob” Rotondi was a legendary Malden baseball coach.
