What MA's Lifting Of COVID Restrictions Means For Malden Schools
Here's what changes this week after Gov. Baker announced that all COVID-19 restrictions, including the mask mandate, will be lifted May 29.
MALDEN, MA — Massachusetts will lift all remaining COVID-19 restrictions, including the mask mandate, May 29, Gov. Charlie Baker announced Monday.
In response, Malden schools are dropping the mask requirement for students during outdoor activities, including recess.
The updated policy will go into effect Friday, May 21, according to an email from the district.

"If you would like your child to continue wearing a mask, please instruct them to do so, and, if age appropriate, let your child's teacher know," the email stated.
Superintendent John Oteri also announced a series of vaccination clinics for students ages 12 and up next week. The clinics will offer the two-dose Pfizer shot through a partnership with Pelmeds Pharmacy.
