What's Happening In Malden on July 4?

You’ll have to travel beyond Malden if you want to watch the sky explode on July 4, but in lieu of fireworks, the City of Malden’s certainly not short on events scheduled for Independence Day 2015.

The city notes that starting at 9 a.m. at Devir Park, Malden shall get patriotic by hosting a handful of low-stakes athletic competitions.

These will include a half-mile road race, basketball tournament for teens of both genders, shorter foot races, a football throw, a softball throw, a beachball throw, shoe scramble, soccer ball kicking contest, beachball kicking contest, and a bean bag throw.

And did we mention free snacks, face painting, and pony rides? We should mention those, because they will be there as well.
