Woman Nearly Runs Over Police Officer During Chase
An officer had to jump out of the way when a female suspect drove her car through her backyard and onto the street to avoid another officer in her driveway.

A woman is in custody and her child safe after allegedly sending police on a dangerous chase down Oliver Street Tuesday morning.Â
Police responded to 5 Oliver St. after receiving multiple reports that a woman threatened to harm her young baby, Lt. Det. Marc Gatcomb said.
The woman, not yet publicly identified by police, reportedly drove her minivan in reverse across the lawn and around the home to avoid an officer approaching from the driveway.
"An officer was coming along on the other side (of the home) and had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by the vehicle," Gatcomb said.Â
The woman also hit a propane grill and the side of the residence during her escape, Gatcomb said.Â
The vehicle then dropped down a 2-3 foot wall onto the street, where it began to stall.Â
"Officers quickly converged on the vehicle, smashed the windows and were able to extract the baby safely," Gatcomb said.Â
The suspect, however, reportedly struggled with police. The baby appeared unharmed, Gatcomb said.Â
"The cops that were there showed a huge amount of restraint not to just shoot...into the car, knowing a child was in there," he said.
"On a moment's notice, they were able to pounce on the vehicle, as their training prepares them to do."Â
Investigators continue to piece the incident together, though the woman likely faces a number of charges upon her release from the hospital.Â
