Box Truck Carrying Amazon Packages Catches Fire In Milton

The box truck caught fire on I-93 northbound in Milton on Monday, causing a 5-mile backup during the morning commute.

MILTON, MA—A box truck carrying Amazon packages caught fire on Interstate 93 northbound in Milton on Monday, causing traffic delays as fire officials worked to put out the flames.

Firefighters responded to the incident at approximately 5 a.m. near exit 11.

Two lanes were shut down as crews worked to extinguish the fire and removed packages from the truck, but they have since been reopened. The incident caused a 5-mile backup on I-93.

"Safety is our top priority and we are thankful the delivery driver is unharmed," said Amazon spokesperson Leah Seay in a statement. "We are working with impacted customers to ensure timely delivery of their packages.”

The cause of the fire remains an ongoing investigation and no other information has been made available.
