Flash Flood Watch Issued for Milton

Some of the thunderstorms may contain torrential rainfall capable of producing two inches of rain or greater in one hour or less.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Milton starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The area is expected to see heavy showers, with a chance on thunderstorms this afternoon.

A flash flood watch is issued for a situation that could lead to rapid and potentially life-threatening flooding. Some of the thunderstorms may contain torrential rainfall capable of producing two inches of rain or greater in one hour or less. This may result in localized flash flooding, especially in urban centers according to the NWS.

The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Should flooding occur, officials remind drivers to not drive through flooded roads, even if the water appears to be shallow. Drivers should find alternate routes. Cars can easily be stranded. Additionally, residents are advised to move to higher ground if you live or work in a flood prone area.
