50 Shades of Green dazzled in the packed Curley Hall at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Saturday March 9th following the 4:00 p.m. Mass. It was standing room only and the huge parking lot was filled with many church goers having to settle in many cases side- street parking. To top it off , the weather which had been often dismal in the days preceding was blissful with the sun beaming down .

St. Patrick’s Day may be a week away but with a Collaborative Fundraiser taking place immediately following mass, Green could be seen on the young and the young at heart. Ladies in sweaters, little girls with tulle skirts and head bows, gentlemen wearing green ties showing off shamrocks , sparkles bows and even green socks, there was green everywhere.

Proceed from this undertaking by the Collaborative of St. Mary of the Hills and St. Elizabeth’s will be used for water damage repair in both churches.

Upon entry into Curley Hall the aroma of gourmet food filled the air and the music from Popular Band Erin’s Melody had everyone joining in some version of an Irish Jig.

There was face painting and arts and crafts and a huge selection of raffle items, Red Sox tickets, Restaurant tickets and several kind donations from many of the local businesses in town.

It was an evening of camaraderie and fun , meeting up with old friends, making new ones ,singing and dancing enjoyed by all.

Unbeknownst to Collaborative member Ann Finnegan , she was called up for a special birthday salute as the band and all in attendance sang Happy Birthday wishing her all the best The luck of the Irish was with her as over 300 plus in attendance were there to celebrate her birthday.

Somewhere around 8: 30 p.m. to the delight of us all, Pastor Eric Bennett , joined Erin’s Melody on stage and sang a version of Garth Brook’s Friends in Low places, which was followed by thunderous applause. Well deserved indeed . Fr. Bennett along with Parochial Vica Fr. Michael Ssenfuma are working very hard to attend to all the needs of this new collaborative.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday March 17, here is an Irish Prayer

May God give you for every storm, a rainbow

For every tear a smile

For every care a promise

And a blessing in each trial

For every problem life sends , a faithful friend to share

For every sigh a sweet song and an answer to each prayer
