Happy 243rd Birthday America from Milton

Kelly Field races kick off July 4 th festivities

Keeping up with an 87 year old tradition, the town of Milton in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club under the direction of Robert Sheffield, kicked off the annual July 4 th races at Kelly Field in honor of our great nation's 243rd Birthday.

There were all shades of red,white and blue as families made it to the field for the early morning festivities.

Eager tots got their faces painted ,thanks to MHS students on hand and many opting for patriotic painted nails with sparkles

Following the singing of the Star Spangled Banner,members of the Milton Select Board led all in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Then it was time for the races as ,Bob Sheffield with microphone in hand announced the races ranging from 2 year olds- 13 year olds,to sibling races and moms and dads,many holding hands as they crossed the finish lines.

This much loved event is a great way to instill our nation's pride in the hearts of all,the young and the young at heart.

The joy on the faces of all the runners as they stepped up to the ribbon table was PRICELESS!

Perfect weather to boot,hoodsies for all, antique fire truck and more, this annual tradition vis one that always gets the day off to a great start
