MILTON, MA —Milton is one of the state's communities that have seen an increase in fireworks complaints this spring.

Many towns have echoed the concern that with many businesses closed or restricted, and more people home, during the coronavirus health crisis, people are resorting to illegal fireworks for entertainment.

Milton police said many of those complaints in town have come from from those living near the town limites who are hearing fireworks being set off in neighboring towns.

"Fireworks have always been a seasonal safety and noise concern, but we are seeing an increase in problems this year," Milton police said. "We are attempting to target increased enforcement within town. Unfortunately, many residents are impacted by fireworks being set off in bordering communities. Although we lack ability to handle those issues ourselves, we do try to communicate and work proactively with our counterparts on these quality of life issues."

Boston and Brockton are among the cities that have also issued warning about setting off illegal fireworks in recent weeks.
