Looking for a Great Summer Experience for Your Teen?

Summer Archaeology Institute at the Wakefield Estate Is It!

Worried about your teen being bored this summer?
The Wakefield Estate offers an extraordinary and exciting enrichment opportunity for high-school age students that might solve that problem: the Summer Archaeology Institute for Teens. Each summer, the estate offers this amazing hands-on archaeological program, specifically designed for rising 9th grade, high school students interested in learning about local history and archaeology, at the historic 22-acre property on Brush Hill Ave in Milton. It is one of only a few programs of its type in the country. This year, participants will work side by side with graduate archaeology students from UMass Boston. Each two-week session offers students a hands-on introduction to the field of archaeology through participation in an actual excavation on-site. It is truly a rare experience and many students return for several years after attending the first time. In a past session, exciting finds included a small button with the writing initials "GW" and "Long Live the President", a memento from the very first Presidential inauguration in 1789.

The dates for the 2018 Summer Archaeology Institute are:
Session I: July 9 – July 20; Monday-Friday 9 am-3:00 pm
Session II: July 23 – August 3; Monday-Friday, 9 am-3:00 pm

Space is limited for this program, so register soon. For more information or obtain a copy of our application, call 617-333-0924 x22 or visit www.wakefieldtrust.org.
