MFE honors the 2019 MPS Teachers of the Year!
The Milton Foundation for Education honors some of our finest and brightest in the Milton Public Schools
On Wednesday 5/22/19, the Milton High School lobby was all abuzz as loved ones, friends, family members, faulty and students, representatives of the Milton Select Board and School Committee, gathered for the 19th Annual Milton Foundation for Education's Teacher of the year Award Ceremony.
Brightly colored flowers compliments The Fruit Center Marketplace adorned the food table 's delectable display of Chinese noodles, dumplings ,cookies, cheese and crackers and other delicacies compliments of Milton parent, FAME advocate and Chef /Owner of The Seasoned Palette , Lauren Barone. Amidst laugher and cheers, guests got to mingle whilst being serenaded by the jazzy sounds by members of the Milton High School Music Department before making their way to the parked auditorium where MFE president Will Korman welcomed all to the ceremony which began promptly at 6: 30 PM.
Up first was a standing ovation in honor of Janet Sheehan who will retire at the end of the school year from her role as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Human Resources, concluding many years of service and contributions to the Milton Public Schools.

A common thread, expressing heartfelt gratitude rang loud and clear as the honorees took to the podium. Members of the MFE presented each honoree with a bright blue colored gift bag of mementos, which included a personalized Citation from the Massachusetts Senate bestowed upon the honorees by State Senator Walter F. Timilty. Legislative Aide to the Senator, Jack O'Brien expressed the Senator's regrets at not being able to congratulate the honorees in person as he along with all the other Senators were deeply engrossed in the Senate debate on this day 2 of the Senate Budget in progress.

Preschool: Mary Beth Callahan,Tucker
Tucker School: Tara Kostek, Kindergarten
Cunningham School: Sarah Slater, Kindergarten
Cunningham School: Liam Downes, Paraprofessional
Collicot School: Beth Fahey, Physical Education
Glover School: Melissa Craven, 5th Grade
Pierce Middle School: Kerri Devin, 6th Grade Social Studies
Milton High School: Rebecca Damiani, Music
and receiving the Dr. Mary Grassa O'Neill Leadership Award: Amy Gale , 1st Grade , Collicot. Ms. Gale in her concluding remarks poignantly read with pride the names of each of the 21 students she has the pleasure of teaching on a daily basis.
This much beloved annual event is always a highlight as the school year draws to an end.
Congratulations to all the honorees, your dedication to the students in the Milton Public Schools is admirable as it is commendable. We Salute you!.
