Milton Interfaith Clergy Association hosts Thanksgiving Service
Community members honored for volunteering their services
Thanksgiving,a time to give thanks for the people in our lives and at this time every year,The Milton Interfaith Clergy Association gathers together in a service of Thanksgiving and celebration honoring community volunteers who give selflessly of their time,talents and treasure.
The rain and fierce wind on Sunday 11/24 could not dampen the warm atmosphere in the Temple of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills,this year's venue for the service.
The sounding of the Shofar by Rabbi Fred Benjamin followed by the hymn Come oh thankful people come ,began the service.

Poignant readings , hymns and reflections all with a common thread uniting the Earth in collaboration with nature and humanity followed.
Three high school students,two who are current members of the Milton High School Earth Club eloquently addressed the captive audience. Senior Margaret Haley was very clear in her delivery " If you want children to live a long happy life start caring for creation."Freshman Emily King also shared how everyone can make a difference by incoorpating simple changes into one's lifestyle encouraging all to bike or walk when going short distances and reminding all that we need to care for the Earth because it cares for us. a video reflection Love song to the earth followed.

In an evening of gratitude and thanks ,Noreen Dolan of the Milton Residents Fund shared her gratitude to the community for the ongoing support of the Milton Food Pantry.137 families have been supported by the pantry this year with 115 families signed up for a Thanksgiving meal. Ms.Dolan expressed her extreme gratitude to The Parkway Methodist Church where the pantry is housed.
The evening's honorees ranging from students to life- long community members were handed commemorative certificates honoring them for their service.
Honorees and guests celebrated with dinner served on biodegradable plates, flatware and cups all in keeping with being green-friendly and as was repeated following The Littany of Affirmation and Action,"We join with the earth and with each other.
Truly an evening of warmth in thanksgiving and gratitude.
