Mother Charged With Leaving 1-Year-Old In Hot Truck In Milton

State Police said the mother left her 1-year-old in the truck at Houghton Pond for about 25 minutes while she set up for a birthday party.

MILTON, MA — A Boston woman is facing reckless endangerment of a child charges after State Police said she left her 1-year-old in a hot pickup truck while she set up for a birthday party at Houghton Pond in Milton on Saturday.

Police said that about 11 a.m. on Saturday, Trooper William McSweeney found the 1-year-old in a while Chevrolet pickup truck illegally parked with the engine running. McSweeney found the 1-year-old sitting in a car seat in the passenger seat with heater blowing hot air.

Police said that when McSweeney opened the driver's side door the child was conscious and began to cry.

Milton Fire and EMS responded and evaluated the child, who was taken to Boston Children's Hospital for observation.

Police said the child was left alone for about 25 minutes. The 24-year-old mother was issued a summons to appear in Quincy District Court on the reckless endangerment charge.
