MILTON, MA — A months-long police investigation of a Town of Franklin man suspected of drug trafficking led to a dramatic confrontation on Friday, as Alan Pennington did allegedly did everything he could to evade arrest. Police said Pennington's attempts were unsuccessful.
According to a news release, the May 9 operation to serve Pennington a search warrant at his home went awry as soon as officers identified themselves. First, the 32-year-old suspect made a break for it by ramming his car into "several police vehicles" while also attempting to strike officers on foot, police allege.
In the ensuing chase, Penington "struck mailboxes and finally came to a stop after hitting another parked vehicle," the news release continued. When Franklin detectives finally executed the warrant, they reported finding "many pills, believed to be fentanyl with an estimated street value of over $15,000" and $100,000 cash.
