The Town of Milton Select Board is seeking volunteers to join a Local Historic District Study Committee. The committee will investigate whether to establish one or more historic districts in addition to those already in existence. Historic districts are established to preserve and protect the distinctive characteristics of buildings and significant history; maintain and improve settings of those buildings and places; and encourage new designs compatible with the existing buildings in a district. The work of the committee is expected to last approximately 18 months. Any properties or areas chosen for designation would be presented to Town Meeting for approval by a 2/3 majority vote. The ideal committee includes diverse viewpoints and experience. If you are interested in a seat on this new and exciting committee, please visit the Town of Milton website for a copy of the volunteer application form and return to Jennifer McCullough at 525 Canton Avenue, Milton, MA 02186 or jmccullough@townofmilton.org or call (617)898-4846 to receive one by mail.
