Accused Scammers Indicted for Stealing Elderly North Andover Woman's Safe

Elderly North Andover Woman's Safe stolen by people posing as maintenance workers.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA-- Four people were indicted this week in connection with stealing a safe from an 81-year-old woman while posing as maintenance workers at a North Andover apartment complex last December.

Sean Peres, 36, and Barbara Williams, 50, aka Barbara Brooks, were indicted by an Essex County grand jury on the following charges: conspiracy (two counts), larceny over $250 on someone over 60 and entering a dwelling under false pretenses.

Michael Lorenzana, 39, and Jacques Roddosi, 32, were each indicted on two counts of conspiracy. Lorenzana faces an additional charge of receiving stolen property.

On Dec. 26, 2016, two men told an 81-year-old woman living at the Royal Crest Estates that they needed to make repairs in her bedroom, prosecutors said.

While one man distracted the victim, the other went into her bedroom and took a safe containing jewelry, documents, and personal belongings, prosecutors said.

Lorenzana, who was fired from his maintenance worker job at the apartment, allegedly conspired with Peres and two others to rent a moving truck, get into the woman’s apartment, and steal her safe, prosecutors said.

No arraignment date in superior court has been scheduled.
