Funeral Arrangements Made For Yahaira Colon, $17,162 Raised

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Funeral arrangements have been made for Yahaira Colon, the North Andover woman killed in a car accident on Jan. 12. Colon, who was 30, have funeral services Sunday and a wake Monday. Colon leaves behind four children.

• Funeral: Sunday Jan. 19, 4 to 6 p.m., Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence St. Lawrence MA 01841
• Mass: Monday Jan. 20, 11 a.m., St. Patrick’s Parish, 118 S Broadway Lawrence, MA 01843

Colon's mother, Betsy Cruz, was able to raise $17,162 on GoFundMe, for her funeral arrangements and to take care of her children.

"I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart," Cruz wrote. "You don’t know how grateful I am. There is no sufficient amount of words that could equal the generosity you have all showed us during our time of grief."

"Because of your donations we are able to give Yahaira the proper wake and funeral she deserved. Again, we can’t thank you all enough. May God bless you all," Cruz continued.

Colon was the second child Cruz lost in under five years.

"No mother should ever have to bury her children," Cruz wrote. "Almost 4 years ago we lost her younger brother Jose (Machi) and we are still grieving and trying to handle that loss."

Jose "Machi" Colon Jr, was killed in Lawrence in March, 2016.

The Eagle Tribune spoke to Colon's sister, Jeanette.

"One of her biggest wishes was to keep her children together. She wanted them to grow up together," Jeannette told them. "And she said if anything ever happened to her she wanted them to be with my mom."
