Methuen Police Arrest Teen In Saturday Shooting
Police: Three juveniles handling a loaded gun when a 16-year-old shot in the shoulder.

METHUEN, MA --- Methuen police on Saturday arrested a 17-year-old Methuen teen in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old boy, who was shot in the shoulder earlier in the day.
The suspect, whose identity was not released because he is a juvenile, is charged with:
• Possession of a Firearm Without a License
• Possession of Ammunition
• Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling
• Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Methuen police responded to a home on Annis Street after receiving a report that a shooting had occurred at the residence.

Upon arrival, police learned that three juveniles were handling a gun when a 16-year-old male juvenile was shot in the shoulder, allegedly by the suspect.
The victim was taken to a Boston hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested at his home and transported to the Methuen Police Station.
During booking, the suspect allegedly assaulted two police officers.
The suspect is currently being held on $5,000 cash bail at the Methuen Police Department pending his arraignment in juvenile court on Tuesday.
The incident remains under investigation by the Methuen Police Department, which is currently working with a K-9 unit to locate the firearm.
