More Than 200 Rowers Expected For Head of the Merrimack Regatta In Methuen On Saturday

The event kicks off the season for the Essex Rowing Club, a nonprofit that hosts the event and offers rowing programs to all skill levels.

METHUEN, MA -- The Essex Rowing Club will be hosting more than 200 rowers as its host the 8th Annual Head of the Merrimack Regatta on Saturday. Over 60 teams from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island will compete in more than 20 events. The 4.1-mile course runs from near the Dracut town line to the finish line by Riverside Park in Methuen.

Racing begins at 8:30 am, and the last race is scheduled to begin at 1:45 pm. Essex Rowing recommends Casa Blanca on Rt. 110 in Methuen as a prime viewing spot. The restaurant overlooks the river and is a designated viewing spot for rowers and their families.
