NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover town employees are calling residents over 75 to help register for the coronavirus vaccine, the town said in a virus update Tuesday.

Vaccinations for that population began statewide Monday, but supply remains limited. Towns like North Andover are being limited to just 100 doses of the vaccine per week.

The state is asking the town to send residents to the mass vaccination site at the Danvers DoubleTree Hilton, according to the new update. That site opened Wednesday for vaccinations, although appointments were booked up rapidly last week.

The town is planning to target its doses to residents who are eligible but cannot go to Danvers. On the phone calls with residents over 75, they will ask about interest, ability to travel and other information, then follow up to help with appointments when more are available.

The town also shared a case update. As of Tuesday, there are 128 active cases, two at Merrimack College. Eighty-one residents have died of the virus and 2,099 have recovered.
