North Andover Coronavirus Numbers Rise, But 20% Now Vaccinated

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover's coronavirus numbers continued to worsen in the latest town-by-town report from the Department of Public Health, even as the town's vaccination data gives cause for hope.

The town's positive test rate over the last two weeks was 1.16 percent, up from 1.03 percent the week before. The caseload rose as well, from 103 to 121.

But the vaccination drive continues to hold good news. One in five North Andover residents has been fully vaccinated, according to the latest state data. And more than a third of the town has gotten at least one shot.

The state also reported a case milestone Thursday, with its 600,000th case.

The state labeled 55 communities as high risk for the coronavirus Thursday in the latest town-by-town report from the Department of Public Health, up from 32 in the previous report. The full list of high-risk communities is available at the end of this story.

The seven-day average positive test rate for the state rose to 2.49 percent, up from 2.39 percent a week prior.

The state reported 2,455 coronavirus cases, 32 deaths and 83,879 vaccine doses Thursday.
