North Andover HS Music Department Honors Students at Awards Night

Talented North Andover Music students were recognized during the June 14th ceremony.

The North Andover Music Association hosted the NAHS Music Award Ceremony on June 14th to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding student musicians in the North Andover Public Schools. Many talented students were recognized for their contributions and for their dedication to the music programs.

2021 Chorus Awards: Choral Rookie of the Year, Erica Parks; Outstanding Underclassman, Annakiya Marshall; Outstanding Upperclassman, Mia Gouveia; Concert Choir MVP, Nicole Dumont; Treble Choir MVP, Phoebe Wilmot; Scarlet and Black MVP, Corey Freedman; Choral Spirit Award, Michael Raizin; Chorus Unsung Hero, Edward Nachamie; National Choral Award, Maddie MacLellan and Owen Ferguson; Choral Director’s Award, Isabel Durning; Choral Service Award, Aaron Mancaniello; Outstanding Musicianship, Cat Souza.

The following students received plaques for their previously announced MMEA and NAfME participation:

MMEA Northeastern Junior District Awards, NAMS Recipients: Junny Lee and Jaycek Gosselin.

MMEA Northeastern Senior District Awards: Corey Freedman, Owen Ferguson*, Courtney Igbinosa*, and Caleb Ginsburg*.

* Denotes All-State Recommendation with highest state honors and participation in MMEA All States festival.

NAfME All-Eastern Choir: Owen Ferguson and Henry Wright.

NAfME All-National Choir: Owen Ferguson.

The North Andover Music Association presented awards to the following scholarship recipients:

The North Andover Music Association Scholarship: Owen Ferguson, Samuel Clay Ursu, Isabel Durning, Edward Nachamie, and Em Buyea; NAMA Community Music Award: Phoebe Wilmot, Evelyn Wang, Madeline MacLellan, Emma Bourassa, and Norah Rivers.

Additionally, Em Buyea received the Band Award and Owen Ferguson received the Choral Award during the North Andover High School Awards Night on June 1st.

NAMA was also pleased to dedicate the William and Victoria Simoneau Memorial chimes for NAHS and bells for NAMS, and gratefully acknowledged the many generous friends of Sue Francoeur who contributed.
