Town officials said they wanted to increase the likelihood of good weather and allow for more vaccine uptake.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover officials are discussing again holding annual town meeting outside in June, like 2020's meeting.

Town Moderator Mark DiSalvo spoke to the Select Board Monday about the meeting, almost a year after he came to them in the early days of the pandemic to discuss then-radical potential changes to that year's town meeting.

Ultimately the 2020 meeting was held on a Tuesday evening in June, outside in the high school's Joe Walsh Stadium.

"This year, I cannot conceive of holding an indoor meeting," DiSalvo said Monday.

He suggested replicating last year's meeting, outside in June.

The Select Board were in favor of DiSalvo's idea and Town Manager Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues agreed that a June meeting would work.

"I don't anticipate anything being on the town warrant that would be so timely that we would have to have a May meeting," Murphy-Rodrigues said.

She said she would meet with the school superintendent and discuss potential dates to reduce conflict with school activities.
