North Andover Pizza Shop Worker Places In 4th Box Folding Contest

Andrew Chartier, 19, works at Stachey's Pizza in North Andover and took on seasoned pros in the contest, which was broadcast on ESPN.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — A 19-year-old employee at Stachey's Pizza in North Andover turned heads at a recent contest in Haverhill, where he placed fourth in the pizza box folding contest. Andrew Chartier, who is on the autism spectrum, got the job at Stachey's through a North Andover High School program that helps students with special needs find jobs. It was the first time Chartier competed in the contest, which attracts seasoned pros and is called the "Olympics" of the pizza industry.

"He’s faster than anyone else here, by far," says Tyler Thomas, a manager at Stachey’s, told CBS Boston, which first reported this story. Thomas bought 1,000 of the pizza boxes that would be used in the contest so Chartier could practice. Chartier has worked at Stachey's for four years.
