North Andover Police Warn Their Number Is Being Used In Scam
The police business line is being used by phone scammers attempting to get money from residents, the department said.
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The North Andover Police Department's business line is being used in an ongoing phone scam, the department warned, Thursday.
The scammers are attempting to get grandparents to send money, supposedly for bail and defense funds. They usually ask for money in the form of debit card purchases, the department said.
Residents are encouraged to contact the department if they receive a call from their number, 978-683-3168, and are unsure if it's legitimate. The department will verify whether it's a legimate call.

The scammers are calling people throughout the U.S., the department said. The police are attempting to find the scammers.
