NORTH ANDOVER, MA — A North Andover woman pleaded guilty Friday to doing illegal silicone injections.
Gladys Araceli Ceron, 72, pleaded guilty to five counts of "delivery for pay of an adulterated or misbranded medical device received in interstate commerce with the intent to defraud or mislead."
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 5. Ceron was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in May 2019 and indicted in July 2019.

According to prosecutors, from roughly 2004 to 2019 Ceron did illegal injections using "gluteal material" from a source in Florida at her Lawrence business. Lab tests found that the material contained silicone oil, which "the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns can travel through blood vessels and cause a stroke, death or permanent disfigurement," prosecutors said.
During a recorded May 24, 2018 meeting, Ceron said she charged $500 for butt injections and $60 for wrinkle-filling injections. The next month, her business was searched and several bottles and syringes were seized.

Tests revealed that those bottles and syringes contained silicone oil. Uncapped, used syringes were also found.
Ceron was paid for illegal butt or wrinkle-filling injections on four other women and misled them about her qualifications and the identity and safety of the injections, prosecutors said.
