Obituary: Joseph D. Quartarone, Aeronautical Engineer With General Electric For Over 30 Years

Founder of North Andover Lyons Club.

Joseph D. Quartarone, 93, died April 13, 2015 at the Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Lawrence October 17, 1921 to the late Sebastiano and Maria (Luceri) Quartarone of Lawrence. He resided most of his life in North Andover.

Joseph was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1939. He graduated from Aero Industrial Institute in Glendale, CA. He served with the US Navy during WW II. Joseph worked as an Aeronautical Engineer with General Electric for 33 years. He served as President, Zone Chairman and Secretary of the North Andover Lyons Club of which he was a founding member. Joseph was an avid inventor, enjoyed swimming and loved his retirement years in Florida.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Irene Evelyn (Diodati) Quartarone, brother, Dr. Santo Quartarone and his sister, Christine Piccerillo. He is survived by his daughter Irene C. Crane and her companion Timothy Rock of Haverhill, and his son, J. Russell Quartarone and his wife Marilyn of Haverhill, Grandchildren, Daniel P. and Krista Crane of Hampton, NH, Joseph M. Quartarone of Haverhill, Nicole and Mark Rinaldi of Amesbury, and Kristen and Rodney Lumley of Salem NH. He is also survived by six great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover. His funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m.. Entombment will be at the St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Lawrence.
